Episode 25: Bowl game reactions, BG makes DC change

December 7, 2017

Bowl games have been out since Sunday, but we took the time to digest the five MAC bowl games and see how we ought to feel about them. Typically, the MAC is pretty bad in these events, so it's easy to understand why we ended up being so pessimistic for the most part.

Other topics we have on the docket include Bowling Green firing its defensive coordinator and Anthony Johnson and Sutton Smith were both named Pro Football Focus All-Americans.

Episode 23: Toledo vs. Akron for all the marbles

November 29, 2017

Well, it's finally MAC Championship game week and the two teams we'll see at Ford Field are Toledo and Akron. In our best/worst previewing efforts, we talk about the things we want to see happen (realistic or not) then make some honest predictions.

We also touch on Paul Haynes, Ohio going to the Bahamas Bowl and James Morgan transferring from BGSU.

Episode 22: Does anybody know what happened to Ohio?

November 24, 2017

Toledo vs. Akron. Gonna need to stock up on some energy drinks for this one.

Alex flies solo on this episode, and it comes right after all of Black Friday's games. Ohio was good like two weeks ago, wasn't it? Can anybody confirm this please?

Let's skim through the final MAC standings, see the seven bowl-eligible teams and make some assumptions from there.

Also, we can talk about the Paul Haynes situation really quickly. Let's not make a scene out of it, though.

Episode 21: The heartbreaking seasons for five will finally end

November 20, 2017

On Tuesday, the seasons for Kent State, Eastern Michigan, Miami, Ball State and Bowling Green will come to a close. The only team in the MAC that's truly on the fence, at 5-6, is Buffalo, who plays host to Ohio on Black Friday.

Important games of note this Tuesday:

The Wagon Wheel Rivalry: Kent State at Akron on Tuesday (ESPNU)

The Black Friday slate of games is pretty lit, but you have to be up to watch them all start at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (EST). Ohio will be at Buffalo with both teams absolutely needing a win*, NIU will be at CMU and WMU will be at Toledo.

*- We'll know for sure if Ohio can still make it to Detroit based on Tuesday's Akron/Kent State game.

Does anybody remember that one guy who played quarterback at Kent State that one time? You know who I'm talking about, right?

Episode 20: An obsession with Kato Nelson

November 17, 2017

Holy crap. Akron beat Ohio. That was three days ago and we're still in shock over this. Ohio had a clear path to Detroit after its 28-point beatdown on Toledo and only had one job for the next two weeks: Don't screw up.

Welp, they did. And for that, we got to appreciate the hell out of Kato Nelson.

And for some reason, we found ourselves in a "future of Bowling Green" rabbit hole. Look, it's been a weird month.

Episode 19: Jonathan Ward’s late emergence

November 13, 2017

Pulling into the final two weeks of the regular season (already?!), Alex and Coffin prepare for Week 12's MACtion. Unfortunately, a lot of these games lost some of their luster over the last couple of weeks, like: Western Michigan at Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan at Miami and Ohio at Akron. Is there still room for those games to be entertaining? Absolutely. But these games don't have the shine that they could've had, like we probably expected at the beginning of the year.

Episode 18: Ohio’s out there dropping elbows

November 10, 2017

Ohio! Central Michigan! You have been heard! We get it, you're good!

Seriously, those two picked up solid wins over Toledo and Eastern Michigan, respectively, and now the road to Detroit and bowl games look much better for the two than they did two weeks ago.

As of this recording, Ball State is getting spanked in a rivalry game, Kent State looked worse than Reece Goddard and Akron just wasn't all there against Miami.

Episode 17: Steveland Hoofkin is a great name

November 6, 2017

More quick turnarounds for this episode. Thanks, weeknight MACtion!

The game of the week is clearly Toledo at Ohio on Wednesday. Ohio will be better-rested than the Rockets by two days and a bus ride. Still, a loss for Ohio would be more hurtful to its MAC East title hopes than Toledo losing and still trying to win the West.

How close/far is Ohio from having two 1,000-yard rushers this season?

Don't sleep on Akron. Or Miami. Or Eastern Michigan. Or really anybody. (Okay, maybe Kent State).
