Episode 44: Miami season preview circa 2018

July 20, 2018

The RedHawks are primed to have an excellent year this year. We also have our doubts. If Miami can just get over the hump and all the seniors play up to their potential this year, then why can't this team make a title run? But until then, this team's picked to fall short in the East division race.

Six questions we ask ourselves about Miami in the year of 2018:

  1. How good is Kenny Young?
  2. How much do you trust Gus Ragland?
  3. Does Miami actually have the MAC’s best defense and we don’t know it yet?
  4. Does Miami have enough to beat Ohio this year?
  5. What about Cincinnati?
  6. So is Miami going to do the damn thing or what?

Episode 43: Ball State season preview circa 2018

July 18, 2018

Ball State's favored to not be picked highly this year and a lot of that is because, no matter how you dice it up, it just hasn't been good lately. Now it's young, has some potential, now it just has to string together an actually good season.

Six questions we ask ourselves about Ball State in the year of 2018:

  1. Can Riley Neal finally break through?
  2. Is James Gilbert-Malik Dunner the best 1-2 punch for running backs in the MAC?
  3. Does Justin Hall lead his team in receptions again?
  4. Which player do you think will have the best comeback season?
  5. Is this a hot seat year for Mike Neu?
  6. Where can this team make the biggest surprise in 2018?

Episode 42: The THISORTHATcast

July 3, 2018

Let's keep it easy this week with the holiday and all. The trio goes around the horn with this-or-that questions where we all have to pick one or the other. Which quarterback should have a better yards per attempt this season? Which group of 'all-stars' would you prefer? Who has the favorable schedules? What's to expect out of the Michigan MAC series?

Have an awesome and safe holiday, everybody.

Episode 40: Needs more Jon’vea Johnson content

June 19, 2018

The NCAA provided some content for us last week with a wave of news. First, there will be 3 more bowl games, which means the MAC can find its way up to 7 bowl games startingin 2020. The redshirt rule gives mroe power to the players and letting players transfer without asking for a school's permission first is a win for modern technology. Also: some Phil Steele CFB Preview 2018 talk, new LB for BGSU, Buffalo's offense, Gus Ragland, dad stuff, XXXTentacion.

Episode 39: WMU, BGSU lose key pieces, Kanye just flat out lost it

June 12, 2018

Nothing good happens in college football during the summer. Sam Beal's leaving WMU via the NFL supplemental draft and Datrin Guyton was kicked off BG's roster for his robbery charges. What do these things mean for the two teams? Sure, that means we dive into a few rabbit holes along the way, but we'll talk about CMU and Alabama scheduling a game and the Kids See Ghost album when we're done comparing Chuck Martin to Mike Jinks.

Episode 37: Lies we tell ourselves

May 31, 2018

If there's anything to be learned from this episode, it's that we're way less qualified to be football coaches than we initially thought.

Episode 36: Slow news week? Yeah, pretty much

May 23, 2018

Of note this past week: Ball State hired Beth Goetz as its new athletic director and Akron, Buffalo both found future road contests against Ohio State with the games being worth $1.8 million, which is a lot of coin.

To help pass the time, Alex and Justin talk about those, bring up some future non-conference foes and are really just looking to kill some time.

Episode 35: Highlight tape etiquette

May 15, 2018

It's mid-May, so there's still nothing to talk about. Somehow, we ended up with an hour's worth of audio anyway.

Jim Harbaugh got the keys to the city in Toledo, which is one more key to the city of Toledo than what Jason Candle has. Who are some football players in recent memory that we enjoyed but never signed as professional footballers? Drew Anderson leaves Buffalo as a graduate transfer to Murray State (FCS). Ball State's new uniforms aren't all that great, but whatever. They're fine is what I'm trying to say. A quick recruiting update on Jairus Grissom and Charles Robinson for EMU and NIU, respectively.
